Ear surgery, or otoplasty, is usually done to set prominent ears back closer to the head, reshape deformed ears or to reduce the size of large ears. Otoplasty is one of the few cosmetic procedures appropriate for children and can be performed on children as young as four years old, when the ears are almost fully developed. Otoplasty can greatly enhance a person's appearance and self-esteem and make some of the most significant differences in how people live the rest of their lives.
